Ask the Readers: Why Did You Choose Your Bank?

Man at ATM

Last week, I had to open a new checking account specifically for my business, and ended up going with a totally different bank than I would have originally thought.

I use Bank of America for my main personal checking, mostly because they're all across the country and, even though I hate going, there are two ATMs within 5 or 6 minutes of my house. But when I went to check out their business checking options, they were severely limited.

They didn't have a free business checking account — all of their business accounts had fees I'm not willing to pay.

I did a little research, and found out that SunTrust, which operates banks in the mid-Atlantic and south, has an absolutely free business checking account. Conveniently, there's also a SunTrust within walking distance of my house.

So, that got me thinking: why did you choose your bank?

I chose SunTrust because they had no fees and a close location. What about you? Answer the poll below and then let me know why in a comment.
